Experience
(Not Chronological)

Storyteller
-I have worked as a professional storyteller for a little over a year in public and school libraries, elementary schools, Morehead Planetarium, UNC Hospitals, working closely with child and adult audiences. To this end, I read extensively, especially folk and children's literature.

Sales and Clerical, Pooh's Corner, Children's Division of Baker Book House
-Working at a children's bookstore gave me invaluable experience with children's books and interacting with coworkers and patrons.

Children's Services Intern, Chapel Hill Public Library
-In giving me an intensive taste of working at a children's service desk, this field experience also gave me first-hand experience in the library work not discussed in the classroom: shelf reading, preparing and advertising children's programs, giving reader's advisory and other work with patrons, and observing cataloging/back room work.

Graduate Assistant, Serials Department, Walter R. Davis Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
-This provided general library experience, including some bibliographic work with serials and monographs and reference work at the Serials service desk.

Child Care -Nearly ten years of professional caring for children (babysitting), as well as working with some children with special needs, has given me an experience unavailable in many settings, including library school.

Scholastic Test Grading Team Member, Measurement Incorporated
-My most successful team experience, scholastic test grading encouraged speed and consistent quality of work.

Student Secretarial Assistant, English Department, Calvin College
-Two years gave in-depth experience with office technology, library research for professors, and assisting office patrons.
